2008 is Colts Neck Polo's 15th Anniversary and our new Calendar is Published!
2008 marks out 15th year
combining the Excitement of Polo with a commitment to charity.
The schedule for 2008 has been published and among the things you
may notice is that the Fall session has moved start time to 1:00 in
the afternoon. The Spring matches will continue to begin at
3:00 as they have in years passed.
There are a number of weekends available for special events such as
fundraisers or corporate events. If you or your organization
are interested in hosting an event, please e-mail us for additional
information.
Breeders Cup Match Remembered
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon before a crowd of over 600
spectators, Colts Neck and
Tinicum Polo clubs played an action
packed six chukkers of polo resulting in a 10 to 10 tie. A
two minute sudden death overtime was declared in which
neither team scored and the match ended with visiting Tinicum being
awarded the first annual Oceanport Cup. From the opening
parade of players through the match
and awarding of the cup, the event was enjoyed by everyone young and
old.

Half time not only included the traditional stomping of divots, but
also a spectacular demonstration led by Meg Valnoski,
master of the foxhounds, from the Monmouth County Hunt who showed and paraded
the hounds along with her hunt staff and members of the hunt field.
Special Guest George Richdale, director of the Monmouth County Horse
Show provided commentary on the age-old hunt field tradition of the hunt
horn in calling the hounds.
Members of the hunt hosted an elegant representation of traditional hunt tailgates
dating back to the 1930's and 1940's and included photos, memorabilia and history of the
125 years of
the Monmouth County Hunt.
The match, part of the
Breeders Cup Fan Fest, was brought about by
the combined efforts of the Colts Neck Charitable Polo Club and the
Oceanport Sports Foundation and a portion of the net proceeds of the
event will benefit the ReRun Adopt a Thoroughbred Organization.
